IP Apple Butter Pork Chops
I am horrible at pork chops, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. In the past, I always have overcooked them, making them tough and dry (even in the crockpot). So, after I got my Instant Pot, a chops recipe was one of the first ones I wanted to try.
I stared pinning Instant Pot recipes long before I even got one, and this recipe for Apple Butter Pork Chops from Aunt Bee’s Recipes is one of those early pins. I thought it looked so super easy and flavorful, which are two of my favorite things!
This recipe starts off my searing your pork…and this is done right in your Instant Pot on the sauté setting!! This recipe calls for 2-2.5 ponds of pork, so you will have to do this in batches, as to not overcrowd your pot. Once your meat is browned, set aside while you sauté your onions for a couple minutes. Add the garlic, just for about a minute, being careful not to burn it. Add the pork chops back to the pot and scrape up any of the brown bits from the bottom of the pan, as that will add so much flavor to your dish. In a separate bowl, I stirred apple butter and applesauce together (using the home made applesauce I made previously in my Instant Pot) and pour over the contents of your pot. Set your pot for 20 minutes.
What you are left with is a sweet, yet savory pork chop dish. The meat is tender and juicy. If you are thinking this dish might be too sweet, I assure you it is not, as you get a bit of a bite from the garlic and onions. This was a homerun for all my family, even my picky 5 year old. We served it along loaded baked potatoes made in our air fryer!
